The judging panel for the World Dairy Innovation Awards 2021, in association with the Global Dairy Congress, has been announced.
The panel includes recognised and reputable names from across the international dairy food and beverage industry and between them, they will decide the winners of this year’s World Dairy Innovation Awards.
This year’s panel includes big names from the California Dairy Innovation Center, Fonterra, Land O’Lakes, Yili, The Coca-Cola Company and more.
There are 20 trophies to be won in total, and being shortlisted provides a hallmark of success that will prevail long after the awards draw to a close. To find out more information, including how to enter, click here.

Jaap Petraeus Managing Director, Dairy Sustainability Support
Jaap Petraeus’ lifetime mission is to Improve Sustainability of Dairy. He spent over 15 years as Corporate Manager Sustainability at FrieslandCampina, one of the largest international dairy cooperatives. At FrieslandCampina he was responsible for the development and implementation of the corporate sustainability strategy. He has a large international network in Dairy Sustainability.
Jaap was a member of the SAI Dairy Working Group since 2004, he was the chairman of the Dutch Dairy Energy and Environment group and chairman of the raw material scarcity group of the Dutch Employer Association VNO-NCW. He was one of the initiators of the Dairy Sustainability Framework and the SAI Sustainable Dairy Partnership.
In 2019 Jaap started his own consultancy firm Dairy Sustainability Support that supports dairy- and food-processors worldwide to improve and demonstrate the sustainability of their products. Based on his many years of experience, he developed the Dairy Sustainability Score. With it, dairy companies can assess the maturity level of their sustainability management system.

Dr Carolien van Loo-Bouwman Innovation Manager, Nutritional Sciences at Yili Innovation Centre Europe
Carolien van Loo-Bouwman is the Innovation Manager Nutritional Sciences at Yili Innovation Centre Europe in the Netherlands which is located on the Wageningen university campus. She obtained her PhD in Medical Sciences and MSc in Human Nutrition and Health.
Since 2007 she has worked at the R&D of some global dairy companies and was involved across all the scientific, product development and regulatory activities. In her current role she is involved in innovative dairy research at universities and maintaining relationships with ingredients companies to drive healthy food innovation.

Tolga Sezer Dairy industry senior executive and expert
Tolga Sezer is a senior executive and FMCG veteran with a proven track record in achieving revenue, profit, and business growth objectives within start-up, turnaround, transformation and challenging environments across Middle East & North Africa, East Europe and Central Asia.
Sezer has been the Chief Executive Officer of Al Safi Danone between 2019 and 2021. A joint venture between Al Faisaliah Group of KSA and Groupe Danone of France. The company combines Danone global expertise in dairy innovation with Al Safi deep knowledge of the Middle East market. ASD is a powerhouse of leading dairy brands like Al Safi, Activia, Danette, Danao, Actimel and Safio. Heather Anfang Senior Vice President, US Dairy Foods at Land O’Lakes
Heather Anfang serves as the Senior Vice President for US Dairy Foods. She oversees strategic and commercial activities in the Dairy Retail and Foodservice businesses, works across the business to drive overall brand health and drives engagement and development of team members within the Dairy Foods business.
Heather has served Land O’Lakes, Inc. for 20 years, including many years heading Dairy Foods Marketing and more recently, heading enterprise-wide e-commerce efforts. She holds an MBA from University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing, from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Tushar Joshi Global Dairy Innovation Director, The Coca-Cola Company
Tushar Joshi is a Global Dairy Innovation Director at The Coca-Cola Company, where he handles worldwide dairy beverage innovations from new product development to scale up for the company’s brands. He is also an Asia Pacific leader for plant-based beverage Research & Development.
Tushar also worked with National Dairy Development Board as well as the Dairy wing of Britannia in India for supply-chain and new product commercialization of Cheese, Ice-Creams, and dairy ingredients.
Tushar received his MBA in finance & marketing from Management Development Institute, India. He is also Masters in Dairy Technology and Engineering from National Dairy Research Institute. Tushar helps food and non-food entrepreneur by mentorship and is passionate about delivering nutrition to every human for the world’s physical and mental wellbeing.
Tushar currently lives in Shanghai, China. He is author of a book – “More than I can”, loves philosophy and part-time YouTuber.

Veronique Lagrange Director, California Dairy Innovation Center
Veronique Lagrange directs the new California Dairy Innovation Center (CDIC) since December 2020. The CDIC was formed by the California Milk Advisory Board, USA, to stimulate and support product-oriented innovation in the industry.
She worked for the American Dairy Products, USA (2018-2020) with a focus on educating American consumers on the superior benefits of dairy proteins, while also providing technical support to the industry. Previously, she spent over 20 years with the US Dairy Export Council where she ran business development, product and nutrition research programs in China, North and SE Asia, Mexico and Latin America.
Lagrange also holds a MS in Food Science, and completed professional engineering and management programs at George Washington University, Yale and MIT.

Marcelo Pereira de Carvalho Founder and CEO, AgriPoint
Marcelo Pereira de Carvalho is the founder and CEO at AgriPoint, a company that provides qualified information for the dairy market in Brazil through many channels: websites, symposiums and consulting services. Its website MilkPoint is the largest think tank for the dairy sector in Brazil, with over 100.000 subscribers. Its MilkPoint Mercado dairy market intelligence service has over 260 corporate customers.
Marcelo gave more than 300 talks in 19 countries in the last 10 years, on the following topics: Brazilian dairy market perspectives; World dairy trade and perspectives; Supply chain management in the dairy sector and milk promotion; strategy and dairy innovation.
Agronomist, graduated at the University of São Paulo (1992), with a master degree in Animal Sciences at the same University (1988) and a MBA through FIA – Fundação Instituto de Administração (2005).

Donna Berry is the owner of Dairy & Food Communications, a company that specializes in business-to-business writing, speaking and consulting projects in the dairy, beverage and food industries. She has a Bachelors Degree in Food Science from the University of Illinois and product development industry experience with Kraft Foods. She has been writing for the dairy trade since 1993; she opened her own business in 2000.
Donna has been tracking consumer behaviours and food trends, with an emphasis on dairy, for more than 25 years. She currently writes for numerous trade publications, including Food Business News, Meat & Poultry, Baking & Snack, Culinology and Pet Food Processing. Until February 2012, she had been the ingredient technology editor and new products trend tracker for Dairy Foods magazine.
After 18 years on Dairy Foods, she decided it was time to share her knowledge via other publications and media channels.
