Kerry Group has announced that it has joined RE100, as it commits to sourcing 100% renewable electricity across its operations by 2025.
RE100 is a global initiative led by the Climate Group in partnership with CDP, that aims to bring together the world’s most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.
Kerry Group recently unveiled its Beyond the Horizon sustainability strategy which includes a commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse emissions before 2050.
The company has also said that it aims to reduce its operational emissions by 33% by 2030 as it works towards the 2050 goal.
“The scale of the challenge to address the growing climate crisis cannot be underestimated and requires a concerted global effort from all parts of society,” said Juan Aguiriano, Kerry Group head of sustainability.
“The commitment to using 100% renewable electricity will have an immediate impact and will reduce our footprint by over one million tonnes of carbon between now and 2025, helping us meet our goal of net zero emissions before 2050.”
Sam Kimmins, head of RE100 at the Climate Group, added: “We are delighted to welcome Kerry Group to RE100. By committing to 100% renewable electricity across their entire operations, they are demonstrating their leadership and sending a powerful message that renewables make business sense.”
