Kraft Heinz to invest $25m in Texas production facility

Kraft Heinz has announced plans to invest $25 million in its production facility in Garland, Texas, in a move which will expand production capacity at the site.

The 266,000-square-foot production facility produces a range of products for Kraft Heinz brands such as Lunchables, Oscar Mayer and Velveeta, and currently employs around 843 people.

This investment will reportedly pay for facility renovations and equipment purchases at the facility, which will enable the installation of two new production lines and reportedly create a further 250 jobs at the plant.

According to Garland city officials, the investment has been supported by the Texas Enterprise Zone Program, with Garland nominating Kraft Heinz in 2018. According to the Texas state government, the programme offers financial incentives to foster investment activity in designated enterprise zones.

David Gwin, Garland’s director of economic development, said: “For decades, Kraft Heinz Food Company has been an important and highly valued corporate stakeholder in Garland and we are extremely excited to assist them with this latest expansion of operations in our community.
