Meadow Foods has agreed to acquire UK-based Nimbus Foods, a supplier of inclusions, decorations and toppings to the food industry, from Valeo Foods for an undisclosed sum.
Headquartered in Dolgellau, Wales, Nimbus Foods supplies ingredients to companies across a wide range of industry sectors, including the bakery, confectionery, ice-cream, desserts and cereal categories.
Meadow Foods predominantly supplies dairy-based ingredients to the food industry, but the company claims that this acquisition will diversify its product offering and allow it to capitalise on existing synergies between the two businesses, such as high customer crossover, product knowledge and manufacturing expertise.
A statement from the company states that this purchase forms part of its strategy to grow the business through organic expansion and acquisition, expanding its presence in the value-added ingredients space.
Mark Chantler, chief executive of Meadow Foods, said: “Nimbus fits perfectly with our growth strategy of pushing further into the value-added ingredients space.
“This acquisition will further diversify our portfolio and strengthen our position as a leading supplier of confectionery ingredients.
“There is a large customer overlap and we continue to grow with the demands of our customers who are looking for strategic partners that can offer unique ingredients solutions.”
