The small company, around since 1904, produces Crazy Water from wells and owes its brand name to a supposedly demented woman who drank the beverage and was cured of her ills.
Fast forward, and the firm is donating four palettes of 50cl bottles – 6,000 bottles total – for consumption by fans at the Super Bowl’s Prince concert, to be held two nights before the Super Bowl in downtown Dallas. The concert benefits the Goss-Michael Foundation, an arts non-profit launched by the recording artist George Michael and his partner Kenny Goss.
Crazy Water owner Carol Elder also sold 1,000 bottles to the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Dallas, which is putting them in hospitality packages.
Elder said the idea to donate the water came from a connected friend over lunch. “We weren’t trying to get out there at all,” she said. “We were having lunch.”
The Super Bowl comes amid a big expansion for Crazy Water. Three years ago, the firm had a half-dozen distribution points. Now it has 600 in Texas and nationally, Elder said.
