Dairy-free beverage maker Mooala has expanded its Bananamilk portfolio with a new strawberry variant, made from fruit and roasted sunflower seeds.
Responding to demands for plant-based options with no added sugar, the strawberry Bananamilk is available this month at select Whole Foods and Albertsons-Safeway stores.
With 70 calories per serving, the nut-free, vegan beverage is said to have as much potassium as a small banana, while providing “an excellent source” of calcium and “a good source” of vitamin C in each serving.
Strawberry Bananamilk joins Mooala’s range of organic beverages, including organic Almondmilk, vanilla bean Almondmilk, original Bananamilk and chocolate Bananamilk.
Mooala founder and CEO Jeff Richards said: “People from all walks of life are embracing a plant-powered lifestyle, and we’re also observing that traditional dairy drinkers’ diets are shifting to incorporate more plant-based alternatives.
“Our latest innovation – Mooala strawberry Bananamilk – features a blissfully sweet flavour profile that fuses real organic strawberries and bananas to give today’s shoppers a delicious, but guilt-free, smoothie base or standalone treat packed with nutrition for growing families.”
Launched in 2016, Mooala was inspired by Richards’ own lactose intolerance and his inability to find a non-dairy alternative he wanted to drink.
Earlier this year the brand secured $5 million in funding as it aims to grow its distribution network by 40%.
