Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) has closed a deal to acquire one of its largest distributors in the US, Watchung Spring Water, in a move to expand its ReadyRefresh by Nestlé operations, its bottled water and delivery service.
As part of the agreement, NWNA will take ownership of the Watchung beverage delivery service and the building it operates in.
Located in Lakewood, Watchung Spring Water will broaden ReadyRefresh’s footprint and expand its capacity along the New Jersey coast.
“This transaction is part of ReadyRefresh’s focus on aligning its current operations to meet its future needs and positioning the company for long-term success,” said Henrik Jelert, executive vice president of ReadyRefresh by Nestlé.
ReadyRefresh is a delivery service where consumers, and small and large businesses, can order deliveries of brands such as Poland Spring, Nestle Pure Life, Perrier Water, San Pellegrino and Nestea iced tea.
As part of a transition period, ReadyRefresh will continue to deliver all products currently offered by Watchung Beverage Delivery – including many of NWNA’s bottled water brands in a variety of sizes, as well as coffee, tea, household products and snack foods – for 90 days.
Following the transition period, customers will continue to be able to purchase Poland Spring, Nestlé Pure Life and Deer Park still, sparkling, and flavoured waters in a variety of sizes.
Meanwhile, Poland Spring ORIGIN 900-mL and Nestlé Pure Life 700-mL bottles made with 100% recycled plastic will be new product options offered to New Jersey shore customers.
Andrew Berliner, president and owner of Watchung said: “We have worked with Nestlé Waters for nearly 70 years and have always valued our relationship.
“We are excited to take the next step and be able to offer our customers new ownership who can provide excellent service and even more great beverages delivered direct to homes and businesses.”
