Glanbia-owned Optimum Nutrition has introduced its first savoury ready-to-eat protein snack range.
Protein Ridges are described as crunchy, baked whey protein squares coated in savoury spices. The gluten-free line is available in the US in four flavours: sour cream, BBQ, honey sriracha, and cheese.
Each one-bag serving has 15g of whey protein, 170 calories and, depending on the flavour, 2g to 3g of sugar and 14g to 16g of carbohydrates.

Sarah Teeter, director of marketing for Optimum Nutrition, said: “Optimum Nutrition constantly innovates to satisfy tastes. Not everyone is looking to satisfy a sweet tooth – Protein Ridges are the perfect anytime snack when you want something satisfyingly crunchy with a savoury kick, and a great protein-rich alternative to traditional chips or crackers.”
She added: “Protein Ridges are just the latest addition to a growing family of ready-to-eat and ready-to-drink products from ON. People want convenient options that also feed their desire to make good nutritional choices.”
The launch comes a month after Optimum Nutrition released its Nature Bites range to offer consumers a source of non-dairy protein.
