PepsiCo has expanded its better-for-you snack portfolio with the introduction of Smart50, a ready-to-eat popcorn that promises consumers a popcorn full of flavour for 50 calories or less.
The new range extends its Smartfood brand of popcorn, which is part of Frito-Lay North America, the convenient food business unit of PepsiCo.
The line-up features two flavours: Sea Salt and White Cheddar, offering 40 calories per cup and 50 calories per cup, respectively.
Both products are made from 100% whole-grain popcorn and are free-from artificial flavours and preservatives. The sea salt flavour is also gluten-free.
Featuring a new packaging design, the ready-to-eat popcorn can be eaten on-the-go or as an easy snack at home.
Tracey Williams, marketing senior director of Pepsico said: “With the launch of Smart50, we wanted to show consumers that making smart choices doesn’t mean having to sacrifice fun or flavour.
“As our latest innovation, Smart50 extends our brand mission to provide simple and transparent ingredients and is designed to make consumers feel good about their snacking choices.”
The Smartfood popcorn brand currently offers flavours such as Caramel and Cheddar, Sour Cream and Onion, and Hot Buffalo.
Smart50 is available in 5oz and 6oz bags for an RRP of $3.99 at retail stores nationwide.
