PepsiCo has launched a new range of yogurt- and cheese-based snacks which, it says, provides “a good source of nutrients like protein or calcium”.
Called Imagine, the children’s line consists of Yogurt Crisps and Cheese Stars, which both contain no artificial colours or flavours and are packaged in resealable bags.
Launching in the US through PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, the snack range is designed for on-the-go families and features “kid-friendly” flavours.
The introduction comes as PepsiCo increasingly looks to broaden its snacking offer as consumers move away from carbonated soft drinks. Its Frito-Lay North America unit – which includes snack brands such as Cheetos, Tostitos and Doritos – has been its best performing division in recent months.
Imagine Cheese Stars are poppable crackers, with real cheese as the first ingredient. The line is available in two flavours – parmesan and white cheddar – which both offer six grams of protein per serving.
Meanwhile, Imagine Yogurt Crisps are said to combine “the tastiness of real fruit with real yogurt” and are also available in two variants: mixed berry and apple cinnamon. Each contains four grams of protein and eight grams of whole grains per serving.
Sarah Guzman, Imagine senior marketing director, said: “We know that parents today have a hard time finding snack options for their kids that not only taste great, but also deliver positive nutrition like protein or calcium.
“That’s why Imagine features real ingredients like yogurt and cheese that kids and parents will love – as well as fun shapes and packaging to help make snack time, imagination time.”
The Imagine range is now available at US retailers in 4.5oz resealable bags for a suggested retail price of $3.49.
