Pernod Ricard is expanding its lower-alcohol portfolio with two new 20% ABV spirit drinks for its Ballantine’s and Beefeater brands.
Launching exclusively in Spain, Ballantine’s Light and Beefeater Light aim to offer lower-alcohol alternatives for consumers who want to cut down their alcohol consumption.
Developed by Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky business, Chivas Brothers, the new Ballantine’s expression is said to offer the fruity and floral notes typical of the brand’s signature style, but with fresher notes of juicy green apple, as well as aromas of pink grapefruit and orange zest.
Meanwhile, the new offering from Pernod Ricard’s gin business, The Gin Hub, is an all-natural, gin-inspired spirit containing the same nine botanicals used for Beefeater London Dry.
“Our teams have been working hard to create spirit drinks that accommodate mindful drinking without compromising on flavour, and to bring Scotch and gin fans a new way to enjoy the Ballantine’s and Beefeater experience,” said Jean-Christophe Coutures, chairman and CEO of Chivas Brothers.
“In line with Pernod Ricard’s 2030 Sustainability & Responsibility roadmap ‘Good Times from a Good Place,’ we are continuing to challenge ourselves and push the boundaries in developing innovative expressions that reflect the changing lifestyles of our consumers.”
Ballantine’s Light (RSP €12.45) and Beefeater Light (RSP €13.55) will be available exclusively in Spain from this month.
