Ginmeister-owned Pinkster has released an instant cocktail mix made from a by-product of its signature raspberry-infused gin.
Pinkster Gin Jam Cocktail Mix has an ABV of 2.5% and is available in 20g sachets. The product has a two-year shelf life and is targeted at both on-trade and off-trade channels.
Stephen Marsh, Pinkster managing director, said: “For the last few years, we’ve been recycling the inebriated raspberries left over from making Pinkster as gin jam. Bartenders galore started experimenting with it as a fruity cocktail ingredient, which prompted the thought of creating a stand-alone product for ease of use.
“We went back to the drawing board, finessing the recipe for our existing gin jam, adding a dash of lemon juice. We’ve certainly hit the sweet spot, as the resulting mix added to a Pinkster G&T makes for an extremely delectable mixed drink. For operators of busy bars, it couldn’t be simpler – just pour and stir.”
Last year, Pinkster announced it raised £1.1 million in private finance to help scale up its business and boost sales of its raspberry-infused gin.
The business has since stepped up production of Pinkster Royale, a raspberry spirit made from a by-product of the gin.
The beverage contains no added sugars and is primarily designed as a cocktail ingredient, though can be enjoyed neat over ice.
“Both the launch of the cocktail mix and Pinkster Royale demonstrate that we’re a restless, innovative brand fully committed to sustainability,” Marsh added.
“And at a time when pink spirits are all the rage, our commitment to fresh fruit marks us out from our peers. To us, it’s all about the flavour, not the colour.
“As a pink pioneer, we’ve long been quick to champion the fact that our botanicals include raspberries – real ones, the ones that grow on bushes. Best of all, we’re not prepared to let any of these gin-soaked blighters go to waste.”
Bottled at 24% ABV, Pinkster Royale is available in 35cl bottles with a recommended retail price of £24.
