Packaging machinery company ProMach has strengthened its North American flexible packaging business with the acquisition of KHS Bartelt for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Florida, KHS Bartelt is a provider of packaging systems for the food and confectionery, beverage, home and personal care, pharmaceutical, chemical and tobacco industries.
Founded in 1941, Bartelt manufactures a range of horizontal form fill & seal (HFFS) and fill & seal pouch packaging systems that produce a variety of pouch types and sizes for food products, including sachets and stand-up pouches.
The company was acquired in 2003 by KHS, a provider of filling and packaging solutions, continuing to go-to-market until present day as KHS Bartelt.
The Bartelt acquisition will expand ProMach’s business with an additional North American base for flexible packaging solutions and strengthen its portfolio of pouch packaging solutions.
The deal also includes the assets of Scandia and Kayat from KHS USA, expanding ProMach’s offering with cartoning, shrink wrapping, shrink bundling and tray packing systems for the food and beverage sectors.
Following the acquisition, Bartelt will join ProMach’s flexibles and trays business along with existing brands such as Matrix, FLtècnics, Southern and Ossid. In an effort to grow the business, ProMach says it will invest in Bartelt, its facility, staff and related brands.
Mark Anderson, ProMach president and CEO, said: “Bartelt, Scandia, and Kayat expand our product offerings and allow us to bring an even more complete portfolio of solutions to our customers. Together, they bring over 215 combined years of packaging solutions to the marketplace, with a strong and established customer base.
“We welcome their team to ProMach where we will continue producing and supporting all three brands out of the Sarasota facility and look forward to providing the customers of these respected brands with new products and innovations as well as dedicated parts and customer service programmes in the years ahead.”
