Purity Organic has acquired Dunn’s River Brands, the owner of Sweet Leaf Tea and Tradewinds Beverage Co.
California-based Purity Organic said the Sweet Leaf iced tea brand is “very accretive” to its focus, adding that Tradewinds is “a premium and deeply loved” brand sold primarily in 64oz packages.
“We are excited about this acquisition as it continues our mission of continuing to provide better-for-you brands to our customers,” said Mary Page Platerink, CEO of Purity Organic.
“We have an aggressive roadmap in 2020 and look forward to continuing to serve our key markets and expanding into new areas for all our brands.”
Purity Organic chairman Douglas Abrams added: “We believe there is tremendous potential for all our brands as the organic beverage market continues to expand.
“We will continue to deliver great-tasting organic beverages with a variety of strong brands.”
Purity Organic produces a range of coconut water, juices and sparkling water. Following the transaction, Purity said it plans to refresh the Sweet Leaf brand.
Nestlé sold the Sweet Leaf Tea and Tradewinds businesses to Dunn’s River Brands and private equity firm Fireman Capital Partners in 2017.
