Radico Khaitan has released Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin in the UK, which aims to celebrate the origin of the gin and tonic in British Colonial India.
Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is triple-distilled and crafted in a copper pot still in small batches at the Rampur Distillery, one of India’s oldest distilleries, located in the foothills of the Himalayas.
The 43% ABV drink utilises Indian botanical ingredients such as coriander and vetiver, orange peel, cubeb pepper berries, lemongrass, darjeeling green tea leaves and lemon peel, as well as other botanicals such as angelica root, liquorice and caraway seeds, and of course juniper berries.
As well as celebrating the origin of the gin and tonic, Radico Khaitan claims that the drink aims to encapsulate the rich heritage and history of the Indian city of Jaisalmer, known colloquially as “Golden City of India.”
Sanjeev Banga, president at Radico Khaitan said: “We’re delighted to be launching our first Indian Craft Gin and are excited about the heritage behind the brand as well as the Indian craftsmanship our Master Distiller uses to distil our new gin.
“Jaisalmer’s signature serve, the Jaisalmer Gin and Indian Tonic tastes like an oasis in the desert and we describe it as a drink fit for Royalty, harking back to the imperial age of the Maharajas and their moments of leisure and pleasure.
“Jaisalmer also makes an excellent base for exotic gin cocktails to be enjoyed by consumers especially in the UK, USA, the rest of Europe and other countries worldwide.”
750ml bottles of Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin will be available in the UK in time for Christmas, with a suggested retail price of £35.45.
