Rémy Cointreau will sell its distribution subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Mast-Jägermeister.
Alongside the deal, Mast-Jägermeister will distribute Rémy Cointreau’s portfolio of spirits in both countries.
France-headquartered Rémy Cointreau – which owns brands such as Mount Gay rum, Louis XIII cognac and The Botanist gin – said the transaction “is fully in line with the group’s strategy to reorganise its distribution network in coherence with the upscaling of its brand portfolio”.
The deal is expected to be completed in April 2019.
In its most recent full-year results, Rémy Cointreau saw its sales increase by 2.9%, posting “remarkable growth” in the Asia Pacific region.
Sales to March 2018 reached €1.13 billion, which was primarily driven by the company’s House of Rémy Martin, the parent company for the group’s two brands of cognac, Rémy Martin and Louis XIII.
German liqueur company Mast-Jägermeister makes the Jägermeiſter digestif brand as well as the Schlehenfeuer liqueur.
