Founded in 1889, Richmond has expanded into the meat-free market for the first time with the launch of meat-free sausages as it responds to the diversifying needs of consumers.
The UK sausage brand is under Kerry Foods, manufacturer and marketer of chilled foods and this significant release highlights Kerry Foods’ ambition in ensuring it is catering to the variety of consumer needs.
Richmond’s meat-free sausages have been created with the intention of making the brand accessible to everyone in the UK, including both existing Richmond customers and those new to the brand. While targeting non-meat eaters, Kerry Foods also intends to target those looking to reduce their meat consumption, as well as providing more choice at mealtimes.
The traditional Irish recipe for Richmond’s meat sausages strongly values the taste and texture of its sausages and the new meat alternative continues to focus on both these features. While made from a soya-based protein, Richmond claims that the meat-free product has been created to ‘look and taste just like a Richmond Pork Sausage, right down to the crispy skin fans love’ resulting in a simple swap for existing customers.
Director of Kerry Foods Dawn Spencer said: “Richmond is one of Kerry Foods’ longest-standing brands, but we’re constantly looking for ways to innovate and meet the demands of consumers.
“We’re confident people will love our meat-free sausages just as much as our core ranges, making this a must-stock for retailers looking to appeal to families looking to try something new in their weekly shop. Our complete range of sausages ensures we are bringing families together at mealtimes, helping them create one meal with different options for all dietary preferences.”
The continued expansion of the Richmond portfolio follows the launch of its chicken sausages last year as they aim to offer more choice to consumers.
Richmond’s meat-free sausages will be available later this month with an RRP of £2.50 for a pack of eight.
