Rousselot has announced the expansion of its ProTake hydrolysed collagen range, which it says will help create healthier versions of well-known products.
The Darling Ingredients brand claims that ProTake has been developed to optimise food and drink formulations and create better-for-you, fortified and functional products.
Rousselot’s portfolio of clean label solutions are designed for reformulating applications with increased collagen content, reduced fat and sugar levels, as well as enhanced taste and texture.
The ProTake line is available in three variations: bars, powder (suitable for flavour blends, premixes and ready-to-drink formulations) and foods (suitable for reformulated snacks, bakery, desserts and soups).
With its new portfolio, Rousselot aims to help producers meet demands of health-conscious consumers, whilst also delivering on the taste and texture experience. Rousselot’s range of hydrolysed collagen reportedly addresses formulation issues such as solubility, off-taste and stabilisation.
“As consumer expectations for food and beverage varieties continue to become more sophisticated, the industry is facing rising pressure to deliver cleaner functional products that are both healthy and indulgent,” said Claude Capdepon, global coordinator for Rousselot’s application laboratories.
Capdepon added: “The formulation process of these products can, however, be challenging as one size does not fit all. Producers require innovative ingredients that are not only tailored to consumer preferences, but also the specific application like bars, powders, savoury snacks and soups, baked goods and dairy foods.
“We have expanded our ProTake range to help our customers overcome these challenges and formulate a variety of tastier and healthier foods and beverages effectively.”
