Justin King, Sainsbury’s chief executive, said: “These new jobs will provide a huge boost to communities across the UK, and as they are a mixture of full and part time positions, there will be an opportunity suitable for everyone.

The 20,000 new jobs are in addition to the 13,000 jobs Sainsbury’s has created in the last two years.
