Saputo Dairy UK has extended its lactose free cheese range with the launch of Cathedral City Lactose Free Nibbles, in a move to offer consumers a greater choice of free from alternatives, suitable for all the family.
Made from ‘Mild Lighter’ cheese, which offers 30% less fat than standard cheddar, the Lactose Free Nibbles contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
According to Saputo, the bite-sized nibbles are high in protein and are a source of calcium for the maintenance of bones.
Currently, the new product contains less than 0.01% lactose and is not suitable for milk allergy sufferers.
Senior brand manager of Cathedral City Snacking, Anca Lazar, said: “Demand for free from alternatives continues to grow, and their appeal is not limited to adult occasions.
“Our recent snacking research, which highlighted mums’ desire to make good product choices – both nutritious and great tasting – when selecting snacks for their family, uncovered that for some this may mean catering to a child’s dietary intolerance or simply a preference to avoid certain foods in their family’s diet.”
Lazar added: “Whilst all aged, hard cheeses are naturally low in lactose, we are therefore going the extra mile and testing every batch of our Lactose Free Nibbles to guarantee there is no lactose left, so that parents can feel absolutely confident in the choice they are making for their family.”
Earlier this year, Saputo Dairy UK added to its Vitalite portfolio with a new range of dairy-free cheese alternatives, available in block and sliced formats. With the launch ,the company said it was looking to take advantage of the “exceptional growth” of the free-from alternatives category in the UK.
Cathedral City Lactose Free Nibbles are available now for an RRP of £1.50 in Asda stores across the UK.
