Italy-based provider of equipment and services packaging solutions Sidel has acquired Cognac Moules Emballages Plastiques (COMEP), a French producer and designer of molds for PET.
COMEP is based in Salles-d’Angles, France, has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, and produces over 4,000 moulds per year for customers around the world. With around 60 employees, they were an early adaptor of low blowing pressure technologies. COMEP will represent a separate channel to market for moulds and tooling, meaning that the two companies will take distinct commercial approaches while sharing best practices and capitalising on efficiencies.
Pavel Shevchuk, executive vice president services at Sidel, commented: “By acquiring COMEP, we enlarge our set of capabilities even further and extend our mould and tooling portfolio to offer complete packaging solutions to our clients. Packaging, indeed, is a key differentiator for our customers. COMEP is also perfectly complementing Sidel’s strong mould-manufacturing know-how.”
The transaction follows Sidel’s acquisition of PET Engineering in October 2018, which added brand strategy, design consultancy and line conversion services to its offering. With the addition of COMEP, Sidel expects to further strengthen its manufacturing offering across molds and tooling.
