Following two years of product development, Siggi’s, the Lactalis-owned maker of Icelandic-style yogurt, has launched its first plant-based yogurt range.
Made with a blend of coconut, macadamia and pea protein, the products contain 10g of protein and 8-9g of sugar per 5.3oz cup and feature a thick and creamy texture.
The range is now available in the US in four flavours: vanilla cinnamon, mixed berries, raspberry and mango. According to Siggi’s, the products fill “key gaps consumers have desired from similar non-dairy products”.
Siggi’s founder and chairman Siggi Hilmarsson said: “I am very excited to offer consumers a plant-based option of our popular products.
“Nearly 15 years ago, we started a low-sugar, simple ingredient revolution with our signature skyr, and now continue to deliver on that commitment in plant-based as well.”
Siggi’s CEO Carlos Altschul added: “We are really excited to enter the plant-based segment and offer a truly unique product that delivers on what consumers have asked for. Siggi’s fans all over the country will recognise our classic creamy texture, not-too-sweet taste, lower sugar, and higher protein content. We are proud to continue to enhance the yogurt aisle through innovation.”
Earlier this year, Siggi’s released a range of new innovations including a yogurt made with cold brew coffee as well its first lactose-free line.
