As the official sports drink of the English National Badminton Championships and the British National Squash Championships, the hypotonic drinks will be supplied to players and will be on sale via catering outlets and vending machines to spectators throughout the tournaments.
Slazenger S1, which is specifically formulated to aid physical and mental performance, claims to help the body replace lost salts and fluids faster than isotonic sports drinks.
Available in 500ml bottles with a sports cap, apparently the drinks are absorbed by the body up to 40% quicker than isotonic drinks, making them the ideal choice for sports players wishing to remain at the peak of their performance for as long as possible.
The English National Badminton Championships take place from 30 January 2009 to 1 February 2009 at Manchester’s Velodrome.
With world-famous players such as Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork in contention for top honours, the competition is fierce in the run-up to establishing rankings ahead of London 2012.
Equally, at the British National Squash Championships at SportsCity, taking place 8-15 February 2009, players such as James Willstrop and Lee Beachill will be competing at the highest level, and rehydrating themselves with Slazenger S1.
Neal Haworth, Category Marketing Manager (soft drinks) at Aimia Foods, said: “In racket sports, Slazenger is a world-renowned quality name, so these sponsorship agreements fit well with the brand positioning. Through the sponsorship of such prestigious British championships, we’re really starting to put Slazenger S1 on the map.
“2009 is an important year for all of Britain’s sports stars as they train hard to become part of the next Olympic Games. It’s evident that, with the nation’s focus on sport, the sports drinks category will continue to grow over the next few years, and Slazenger S1 will certainly play a key role in this growth.”
