UK brand Soupologie has launched a new line of drinking vinegars alongside a range of soups which are said to contain the suggested guideline of five portions of fruit and vegetables per day.
Called Viva La Vinegar Drinking Vinegars, the vegan range has added live cultures which help to “counteract the strain on the digestive system that can be caused by a modern diet and lifestyle”.
The line aims to provide consumers with a low-calorie alternative to juices and smoothies.
The vinegars come in 250ml bottles in three flavours as well as a 60ml shot format: kale and kiwi; strawberry, basil and black pepper; coconut water and lime; and turmeric and apple cider vinegar shot.
Soupologie will also launch its Five-A-Day Soup range, which the brand says provides consumers with all five of their recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetables in one pot.
The ingredients in the soups have been chosen to maximise their nutritional impact and immune-boosting properties.
Launching exclusively in Ocado in the UK, the soups come in 600g pots and a choice of three flavours: green soup, with peas, broccoli, apples, spinach and celeriac; orange soup, with butternut squash, yellow peppers, carrots, tomato and mango; and red soup, with red cabbage, apples, sweet potato, carrot and beetroot.
Ocado’s category buyer for fresh soups, Jacques Thudicum, said: “This is a revolutionary step change in the fresh soup category, bringing consumers functional soup to meet the required five a day. I have no doubt these will be well received by consumers.”
Soupologie co-founder Amanda Argent said the soups offer “a deliciously healthy, quick, convenient and nutritious meal option for those with busy lifestyles, and providing the large amount of adults who don’t currently meet the recommended target of five portions of fruit and vegetables a day with a simple solution”.
The soups will be available with a recommended retail price of £3.60 for 600ml. The 250ml vinegars will retail for £2.79 and the vinegar shots cost £1.85 for 60ml.
