Perfect Day subsidiary The Urgent Company has acquired US ice cream producer Coolhaus and announced plans to turn it into an animal-free brand.
Founded in 2009, Coolhaus offers a portfolio of frozen dairy desserts sold in over 6,000 stores nationwide, including Whole Foods, Walmart, Sprouts and Kroger.
The move will see both companies merge resources, while The Urgent Company plans to transition Coolhaus’ dairy products into an animal-free brand using Perfect Day’s animal-free dairy in the coming months.
Coolhaus’ founder, Natasha Case, said: “We created Coolhaus to make better products for everybody. Our ability to lead with purpose and move the dial for consumers becomes even stronger by joining The Urgent Company. The integration of Perfect Day protein into our line of beloved dairy ice cream and novelties is going to elevate our product into the next generation of foods making a difference for our families and our planet.”
According to the company, The Urgent Co plans to launch an animal-free dairy ice cream, Coolhaus x Brave Robot, with a “key national retail partner” in 2022.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Last year, The Urgent Co launched the Brave Robot ice cream brand in the US made with Perfect Day’s animal-free whey protein.
