Mash Direct, a ‘field to fork’ producer of vegetable accompaniments, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of its 55th SKU, Cauliflower Bites.
The Bites, which are made on the company’s farm in County Down, feature cauliflower florets covered in a light and crispy coating, giving them a crunchy texture.
According to Mash Direct, the launch reflects a trend among UK consumers for convenient, healthy and high-quality vegetarian side dishes, with minimal preparation time. Innovative cauliflower products, says Mash Direct, have also witnessed burgeoning demand.
The Bites reportedly take under 20 minutes to cook in the oven and are low in saturated fat and free from artificial flavourings, colourings, and from gluten. They contain 233kcal per 150g serving.
Mash Direct says its ‘versatile’ new product can be served as a canapé alongside a homemade dip, as a main meal with fresh salad, or with a roast dinner.
Earlier this year, the Northern Ireland-based company revealed it intended to increase production capacity following a £10 million funding package from HSBC UK. The firm’s plans included the addition of more production lines to its industrial kitchen, to enable it to produce new dishes.
Commenting on the brand’s latest launch, Mash Direct’s chief operations officer Jack Hamilton said: “We are pleased to be adding the Cauliflower Bites edition to our award-winning vegetable accompaniments range.
“We have seen a huge surge in demand for cauliflower in the UK in recent years, as it is a really delicious and versatile vegetable. The Cauliflower Bites align with a number of eating occasions as they can be served as a canapé and are also delicious as the main component of a meal.
“The Cauliflower Bites will continue to fulfil our mission to bring innovative, healthy and high-quality products to consumers and our retail partners.”
Mash Direct’s Cauliflower Bites are available, for an RRP of £2.00, from Nisa and independent stores throughout the UK.
