Velocity Snack Brands (VSB) has released two new product lines for its Popchips snack brand, marking the first new product rollouts under its ownership.
Private equity firm VMG Partners acquired the brand last year and formed VSB as a new snacking platform to purchase and grow a portfolio of brands.
Popchips grain free and Popchips corn chips extend the air popped snack brand portfolio that claims to be lower in fat and calories.
Popchips grain free is made using the cassava root, which is popped with heat and pressure to make a “light, airy” chip. The new range comes in sea salt and Cajun honey flavours. Meanwhile, the brand’s corn chips line is currently available in a ‘perfectly salted’ flavour, with more to follow.
Both better-for-you snack lines are non-GMO, with no artificial flavours or preservatives and half the fat of fried chips.
“I’m incredibly proud of the world-class team we’ve put together at VSB in the past year,” said Velocity Snack Brands CEO, Amit Pandhi.
He added: “Concepting and delivering new products for Popchips was one of our first objectives as a company. To get that done in just a little over a year, in the face of uncertain times, is a testament to the unique atmosphere we’ve built at VSB.”
The new Popchips lines are available now in Kroger stores nationwide with further distribution to follow.
