US-based coffee roaster Verve Coffee has released a new ready-to-drink flash-brew craft coffee, which it claims is the first drink of its kind on the market.
Verve’s Nitro Flash Brew is made using a different technique to conventional cold brew or iced coffees, as the flash brew method involves brewing the coffee with hot water, extracting it through a hot brewing process in an oxygen-free environment, and then flash chilling and infusing the coffee with nitrogen.
The nitrogen removes any remaining oxygen in the drink, keeping the coffee fresh while providing a creamy mouthfeel. Verve says that this process creates a clean and silky brew that tastes sweet, vibrant and complex, with notes of berries.
The drink marks Verve’s entry into the ready-to-drink space, and the company says that the product has been created to cater to the growing demand for high-quality craft coffees from consumers.
Ryan O’Donovan, co-founder at Verve Coffee said: “Our approach to innovation and product development has always been driven by the quest to provide the highest quality coffee and better the entire coffee experience from top to bottom.
“For us, Flash Brew represents the next evolution of the convergence of quality and convenience in coffee, and we’re excited to push the boundaries in the RTD space with this launch, and future extensions of the Flash Brew line.”
Colby Barr, Verve Coffee’s co-founder added: “We’ve been experimenting with precision brewing since day one at Verve.
“We knew we could make a better ready-to-drink coffee than what consumers are getting from the cold brew that’s currently on shelves.
“This has been a labour of love because we wanted to perfect it, and we can’t wait for people to enjoy it.”
Verve’s Nitro Flash Brew is available from selected retailers in the US as well as Verve Coffee cafés in California, with a suggested retail price of $3.99 per 280ml can.
