Tune into the second edition of FoodBev’s weekly podcast, where we take an in-depth look at some of the biggest stories from the food and beverage industry over the last week.
This week’s podcast features multi-million dollar acquisitions, major executive appointments, trade agreements, health studies and as always, some exciting new product releases.
One of the most important stories of the week came from Campbell Soup, as the company decided to offload Denmark-based Kelsen Group to Ferrero affiliate CTH Invest for around $300m. This move comes as part of Campbell’s portfolio review, which was launched last year as the company aims to significantly reduce debt levels and streamline its operations.
In this week’s edition, we also discuss the potential positive impact of the newly-signed free trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, the collective name for Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
We also examine a controversial study published in the British Medical Journal, which reported an association between drinking sugary drinks and a heightened risk of cancer.
There were a number of significant executive changes at major food and beverage companies last week, as both Rémy Cointreau Group and Saudi-based dairy firm Almarai Group appointed new CEOs.
It was a busy week for Rémy Cointreau, which was also involved in the formation of the new World Spirits Alliance (WSA) trade association, alongside other major drinks companies including Diageo, Pernod Ricard and Brown-Forman.
We cover all that and more in this week’s podcast.
