Wessanen UK is set to add to its Kallø portfolio of rice cakes with a new honey rice and corn variant.
Containing three ingredients – rice, corn and honey – the organic product will be available in a 125g pack containing 13 jumbo-sized rice cakes from August at Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and other retailers in the UK.
This will be the third sweet-flavoured rice cakes in the Kallø range, alongside apple and cinnamon, and blueberry and vanilla.
With 37 calories per cake, the product is marketed as “a simple and healthy choice for breakfast and morning snacking”.
Bryan Martins, marketing and category director at Wessanen UK, said: “Kallø’s delicious new rice and corn cake is an exciting new addition to our growing portfolio of healthy foods. The 125g pack is ideal for keeping at work or at home, as a convenient breakfast for those on the go, or a great-tasting snack.
“Calorie-laden snacks can soon add up and so lighter options, like the new honey rice and corn cakes, can help consumers make more considered, healthy food choices.”
The new product will be available with a recommended retail price of £1.90.
In 2017, Wessanen UK announced the release of a line of Kallø lentil-based rice and corn cakes as a response to increasing demand for protein-rich snacks.
